After a career in medical research, I rediscovered my love of textiles and have immersed myself in the pleasures of designing, dyeing, cutting, restructuring, and stitching fabric. I love the spontaneity and serendipity of creating color and texture through hand-dyeing, discharging, printing, and using resists. The final stitching creates another layer of texture. I`m drawn to the patterns, textures, colors and lines seen in the natural and built world around me, and they make their way into my abstract designs. The end product that emerges is always a blend of my initial idea and the fabric’s own unique contributions.
