Brooks

Brooks named her studio 'Sea Borne' because she receives so much from the sea. She has been drawn to collage and mixed media since the 1960's when she was in art school in New York City. She works intuitively and loves the surprise of what unfolds. Most of her wearable art and accessories have a definite 'collage quality'.In fact, it seems she lives her life as an ever evolving collage. She likes to play at the edges of where two worlds meet - internal and external, ocean and land, spiritual and material, natural and man/woman made, profound and mundane and silly and serious.

She has been represented by galleries on both coasts; been in many juried and non-juried shows; won prizes including first in a Museum Show; has taught in venues such as Colleges, retreats, professional conferences and her own studio. She is also a poet, and was an arts therapist and improv actor. Her new book of Poetry "Who's to Say" is for sale at the Lopez Book Store.
