Being self-taught as well as art school trained I use my experience as both pupil and teacher to guide my sense of chance. Along with a deep watering of Post Modernist writings my book bag is sprinkled with the ideas of Soetsu Yanagi, Shoji Hamada, and Michael Cardew. Through making, chance, and a dusting of the analytic my ideas develop, while themes that remain central to me are loss, vulnerability, and community.
